What does this information mean? This quest is part 6 of a 6-quest series in the Qeynos Timeline.

Description[]

"The scouts were able to push through and around the Abandoned Village, setting up camp in an alcove on the eastern side. I need to contact Sorcerer Oofala, in charge of protecting the camp. He has set up some staves that should ward off the evil temporarily, so once I make it around the village it should be safe. To get to the camp I need to head past Dead Canyon and then east down the southern wall of the village." -- Everquest II Journal

Steps[]

  1. Report to Sorcerer Oofala48, -3, -168 ) Copy at the far end of The Abandoned Village.
  2. Destroy 3 totems, scattered about the abandoned village. They look like giant wooden hands sticking out of the ground.
  3. Return to Oofala.
  4. Kill The Dark Blademaster160, 0, -177 ) Copy near the fog on Sapswill Hill.
  5. Return to Oofala.
  6. Seek out High Chieftain Grexx-67, 13, -165 ) Copy at the The Last Stand, a tree house east of the village.
  7. Enter The Source of Evil-112, 4, -172 ) Copy a cave to the northeast of the tree house.
  8. Kill Vith L'Tar and any other non-pet monsters that spawn.
    • You need to destroy the 4 totems in the cave.
    • You may need to kill groups of tainted goblins to get to the totems.
    • As soon as you near Vith L'Tar, you will begin to spawn waves of undead. The only way to stop the waves from continuing is to destroy all the totems.
    • Once you destroy the 4th totem, Vith L'Tar becomes attackable.
  9. Return to High Chieftain Grexx to report your success.
  10. Return to Murrar Shar-15, -5, 182 ) Copy in front of Myrrin's Tower for your reward.

  • Cleric Mara'Vaen: "Thank you for your help. Peace be with you."
  • Player Character: "Is there anything else I can do?"
  • Cleric Mara'Vaen: "The few scouts that broke through to the Sapswill Village report a twist in this evil plot. Apparently the goblins are victims of evil as well. A few goblins survived some sort of an attack on their village and are being held at a scout camp that has been set up on its outskirts."
  • Player Character: "So I should travel there?"
  • Cleric Mara'Vaen: "Yes, seek out Sorcerer Oofala. He is charged with protecting the camp there and should have more information. The camp is in an alcove on the far side of the Abandoned Village. You will need to traverse around the village to get back to the camp. Good luck.
  • Player Character: "On my way."
  • Cleric Mara'Vaen: "Bless you, child."
  • Player Character: "Thanks."

Head into and around the Abandoned Village in search of Sorcerer Oofala, protector of the scout camp set up there. Seek Sorcerer Oofala. His camp is set up north past Dead Canyon and then east down the wall of the Abandoned Village.

  • Sorcerer Oofala: "Boom! I love this job! Someday I'll be the greatest wizard in all of Qeynos. And you, [Player Character], what do you aspire to be?"
  • Player Character: "Great like you I guess."
  • Sorcerer Oofala: "It is possible, but unlikely. I've got the edge of course, being an Erudite. But let's put that behind us, since I suppose I need your help.
  • Player Character: "You, need my help?"
  • Sorcerer Oofala: "Well, I need to stay here and guard the camp, but I need you to venture into the Abandoned Village. the goblins have revealed some disturbing news. A few survived and made it into our camp here, but the rest were consumed by a mysterious fog."
  • Player Character: "Go on."
  • Sorcerer Oofala: "Apparently some mysterious totems appeared throughout the village and spewed out a fog that enveloped it. It appears that only a few survived, and the rest were turned into... the living dead."
  • Player Character: "So you want me to destroy these totems?"
  • Sorcerer Oofala: "Exactly. Clear them away from the village and maybe it will help lead us to the source of the evil."
  • Player Character: "I will hunt the totems."

I spoke with Sorcerer Oofala. New information gained from goblins that survived has revealed that the goblins were victims of the evil themselves. Evil totems sprang up around their village and spread a fog that devoured all that it consumed. I need to seek and destroy the evil totems. Seek and destroy the evil totems scattered around the Abandoned Village.

I was able to find and destroy the evil totems. I destroyed the totems and I should return to Sorcerer Oofala. Return to Sorcerer Oofala.

  • Sorcerer Oofala: "Wow, you really caused an uproar! Removing those totems must have angered whatever sinister force is behind all this. An evil champion has shown his face and must be dealt with. The Dark Blademaster must be defeated!"
  • Player Character: "By me? Aren't you the great wizard?"
  • Sorcerer Oofala: "Well, if Murrar had sent me to take out the Blademaster, it would be done already. My orders are to protect the camp here, at which I am doing a superb job. Enough debate. Destroy the Blademaster!"
  • Player Character: "I guess I'll take care of it."

I returned to Sorcerer Oofala. Oofala explained that by removing the totems, the evil has been disturbed and produced a champion to fight back. I will need to confront the Dark Blademaster. He has emerged from a tent on Sapswill Hill. Kill the Dark Blademaster near the fog on Sapswill Hill.

I have slain the Dark Blademaster. I have slain the Dark Blademaster and should return to Sorcerer Oofala. I should mention the Freeport insignia that the Blademaster had in his belongings. Return the news of my victory to Sorcerer Oofala.

  • Sorcerer Oofala: "What a fight that was! For a moment there, I thought I would need to step in and help you. the Blademaster's insignia is very disturbing. I should have known Freeport was involved in this corruption somehow! We must act quickly if we are to stop the evil."
  • Player Character: "Should I report back to Murrar?"
  • Sorcerer Oofala: "There's no time! Our forward scouts report that High Chieftain Grexx is still alive and holding off the invasion from his tree house to the east. You must go talk to him before it's too late!"
  • Player Character: "I'll head to the High Chieftain."

I returned to Sorcerer Oofala with news of my victory and of the insignia that the Blademaster dropped. Sorcerer Oofala is disturbed by the news that Freeport is involved. I need to seek out High Chieftain Grexx at his tree house to the east of the Abandoned Village. Seek High Chieftain Grexx in the tree house east of the Abandoned Village.

  • High Chieftain Grexx: "Sad times upon us. The Great Balancing is before us. Coming I knew you would be. Had to, you did."
  • Player Character: "What do you mean?"
  • High Chieftain Grexx: "Prophecy speaks of the Great Balancing. Time when gobbies are faced with destruction, hero arrives to save us. Hero I feel from you."
  • Player Character: "I'll do what I can."
  • High Chieftain Grexx: "As it was written! Sources of evil me thinks springs from cave. Fog shows us evil inside. Hero must save the Sapswill. Hero must be victorious!"
  • Player Character: "I'll head into the cave."

I spoke with High Chieftain Grexx. High Chieftain Grexx has pointed out that he believes the source of evil to emanate from a cave to the northeast of his tree house. I need to head inside and confront the evil. Enter the cave to the northeast of the tree house and deal with the source of evil.

  • Vith L'Tar: "Haha, you think you can defeat me? You can't even touch me."

When destroying the totems in the Source of Evil:

  • Vith L'Tar: "No, not the totems! How did you know?"
  • Vith L'Tar: "Don't touch those!"

When Vith L'Tar summons defiled skeletons:

  • Vith L'Tar: "Why don't you say hello to some old friends?"

After destroying the last totem in the Source of Evil:

  • Vith T'Lar: "Quite a nuisance you are. My patience is gone, prepare for my wrath!"
  • Vith L'Tar: "Now rot like your friends!"

I have slain the necromancer. I should return to High Chieftain Grexx and let him know that the island is saved. Return to High Chieftain Grexx.

  • High Chieftain Grexx: "Ahhh! Truth the Prophecy speaks. The Great Balancing is complete. Evil our hero has conquered. The Sapswill shall always remember and rebuild we will in your name, [Player Character]. Take the hero's gift."

I returned to High Chieftain Grexx. I should now return to Murrar Shar with the news about my victory against the necromancer. Return to Murrar Shar.

  • Murrar Shar: "By the glory of Qeynos, you've done it! The source of evil is gone and the island is saved. You are on a path to greatness, [Player Character]. Your deeds here shall not be forgotten and I forsee many more adventures ahead of you."
  • Player Character: "It was nothing, really."
  • Murrar Shar: "Nothing! I will tell the Queen personally of your bravery. Take this reward as a gift from Qeynos. Feel free to head to Qeynos at any time, or stay and hone your skills. Speak with Captain Varlos on the docks when you are ready to leave."
  • Player Character: "Thanks."

I returned to Murrar Shar. I returned to Murrar Shar and have completed my duties for him.

I was able to help Sorcerer Oofala and destroyed the totems that had spread evil into the village. Removing the totems brought forth an evil champion that I took care of as well. The Dark Blademaster had an insignia of the Freeport Militia in his belongings. Sorcerer Oofala then sent me to try and help High Chieftain Grexx at the nearby treehouse as time was pressing to try and save them. High Chieftain Grexx sent me into the nearby cave to take care of the necromancer that was tainting the island. I took care of the necromancer and returned to both High Chieftain Grexx and Murrar Shar for their respective rewards.
