Journal Steps and Dialogue[]

  • Lady Katri Eloranta: "The Grender using one of our own trees as its lair is very bad news. When something is close to you, you tend to overlook it. This creature must be dealt with, and swiftly!"
  • Player Character: "I want to help."
  • Lady Katri Eloranta: "I couldn't let you do that. there may be considerable danger involved and you've only recently arrived in Kelethin. You hardly know anything about our city at all!"
  • Player Character: "If I don't help, there may be nothing left of Kelethin for me to learn about."
  • Lady Katri Eloranta: "You would be willing to risk your life to help our city? A city that includes those who find Outsiders abhorrent?"
  • Player Character: "It's for the greater good. Who knows what else the Grender will try to bring down?"
  • Lady Katri Eloranta: "Well done, [Player Character]. I knew I sensed greatness in you."
  • Player Character: "You did?"
  • Lady Katri Eloranta: "Of course! I venture to say that you will want to discuss strategies concerning the Grender with someone. It won't do to just rush blindly in for the attack. Speak with Jalmari Keletana, near the Old Kelethin Acorn Lift. She belongs to our self-defense counsel and will assist you."
  • Player Character: "I'll speak with her now."

Lady Katri advised me to speak with Jalmari Keletana. There will need to be some planning before the Grender can be dealt with. I need to speak with Jalmari Keletana, a member of Kelethin's self-defense team who can be found near the Old Kelethin Acorn Lift.

  • Jalmari Keletana: "Yes? Can I help you?"
  • Player Character: "I need to speak with you about the Grender."
  • Jalmari Keletana: "The Grender? I do not have time to listen to more rumors about a mythical creature!"
  • Player Character: "I have proof."
  • Jalmari Keletana: "How like an Outsider to push the blame onto a non-existent creature. Queen Amree can close Kelethin to your kind!"
  • Player Character: "You may mistrust me, but I speak the truth."
  • Jalmari Keletana: "Hm. Suppose you speak the truth, Outsider! How were you able to locate the Grender when our scouts could not?"
  • Player Character: "The scouts focused on areas farther away. The Grender is beneath Kelethin itself."
  • Jalmari Keletana: "Interesting...then we'll need to hold a meeting to discuss what this could mean and how we're to handle it. The Queen will want to be involved. She's very hands-on. when you get to the Fae Royal Hall, speak with Lady Milika Vikaarinen. She'll decide whether you get to meet Queen Amree today or not."
  • Player Character: "I get to meet the Queen?"
  • Jalmari Keletana: "Before you seek an audience with her, speak to Hamnal and Eleoona. They're both members of the self-defense team stationed near the other two lifts. Explain to them what has happened and get their recommendations before you head to the Fae Royal Hall."
  • Player Character: "I'll be on my way."

I've spoken with Jalmari Keletana. I've spoken with Jalmari and will be meeting her and Queen Amree of the Fae in the Fae Royal Court. Jalmari asked me to tell the other members of the self-defense team to discuss the situation. Hamnal Teolofin is a member of Kelethin's self-defense team. Jalmari asked me to seek his advice. Eleoona Faleisinae is a self-defense member in Kelethin that Jalmari asked me to speak with about the Grender.

  • Hamnal Teolofin: "Yes? What can I do for you?"
  • Player Character: "Jalmari sent me to speak with you about the Grender."
  • Hamnal Teolofin: "Why does Jalmari think I'd be interested in more roomers and nonsense about that mythical creature?"
  • Player Character: "In working with Kalamar Vesinger, I've located the Grender's lair -- beneath Kelethin!"
  • Hamnal Teolofin: "that's not good. We'll need to move swiftly against it. So it really exists? That is disheartening, that something could spread disease to our land and be hiding so close to our homes!"
  • Player Character: "Jalmari wants your advice on the matter."
  • Hamnal Teolofin: "Move swiftly. If it is close by, then it would notice any sudden change in our behaviors. We must act before it suspects that we know where it is. And that it actually exists."
  • Player Character: "Thank you!"

I've spoken with Hamnal.

  • Eleoona Faleisinae: "What do you seek?"
  • Player Character: "Jalmari Keletana sent me to ask your advice about the Grender."
  • Eleoona Faleisinae: "The Grender? I've heard of it. they say it breathes fire and belches a thick gaseous cloud that poisons all it touches! They say its eyes are red hot coals and if you stare into them, you'll be blinded!"
  • Player Character: "They say that?"
  • Eleoona Faleisinae: "Of course not! Heehee ... I'm just kidding! what do you need advice about?"
  • Player Character: "Working with Kalamar Vesinger, I've located the Grender's lair beneath Kelethin. Jalmari wants to know what you recommend we do."
  • Eleoona Faleisinae: "I've no time for your foolishness! I'm planning the next social event for the self-defense force and it does not include waltzing along with the Grender. Please, take your jokes elsewhere."
  • Player Character: "But I...oh, nevermind."

I've spoken with Eleoona. I've spoken with the other members of the self-defense team. I need to speak with Lady Milika Vikaarinen at the Fae Royal Hall. I must speak with Lady Milika Vikaarinen and tell her what I've learned about the Grender. She will be in the Fae Royal Hall.

  • Lady Milika Vikaarinen: "Greetings! What brings you into the Fae Royal Hall this day?"
  • Player Character: "I have news of the Grender!"
  • Lady Milika Vikaarinen: "That mythical beast that supposedly steals a fae's wings at night?"
  • Player Character: "Er...I don't think that's the same one."
  • Lady Milika Vikaarinen: "What Grender is it then?"
  • Player Character: "The one that's brought disease to Greater Faydark's creatures. Its lair is directly beneath Kelethin!"
  • Lady Milika Vikaarinen: "This is terrible news! We must defend Kelethin at all costs!"
  • Player Character: "I know where it is. I'll go!"
  • Lady Milika Vikaarinen: "You? Hm...I would prefer to send someone with more experience, but perhaps stealth is the wiser course. You know where it is and can hurry there before it escapes. Speak with Queen Amree and ask permission to undertake this task."
  • Player Character: "I will."

I've spoken with Lady Milika. I must explain the situation to Queen Amree of the Fae. Hopefully, she'll see the urgency of the situation and send me to slay the Grender immediately.

  • Queen Amree: "Welcome to the Hall. What is it you seek?"
  • Player Character: "I seek permission to hunt the Grender!"
  • Queen Amree: "Ah, so you're the one who has proven its existence. You wouldn't believe some of the tales I've been hearing about it."
  • Player Character: "I've heard them too."
  • Queen Amree: "Kelethin is grateful for your assistance. This will be an excellent challenge for you. go, then, and come see me when you have completed the task."
  • Player Character: "Thank you, Ma'am."

Queen Amree has granted me permission to undertake this task. I've spoken with both Lady Milika and Queen Amree of the Fae. With the Queen's permission secured, I am going to slay the Grender and end its menace to the creatures of Greater Faydark. The Grender's lair is within the hollow stump near the center of Kelethin.

I've removed the Grender from its lair. I've slain the Grender. I must return to Queen Amree of the Fae with the news! Queen Amree asked me to return and report to her in the Fae Royal Hall once I completed my task.

  • Queen Amree: "Have you successfully slain the Grender?"
  • Player Character: "Yes, I have!"
  • Queen Amree: "Excellent! I've heard of you from my cousin, Lady Katri. She has been quite pleased with your progress."
  • Player Character: "Thank you, Ma'am."
  • Queen Amree: "I realize that you have only recently come to our city, but you have proven yourself an ally to us from the very start. Thank you for your steadfast loyalty and courage, [Player Character].
    • Player Character: "I always try to do what's right."
    • Player Character: "I did what I thought was best."
  • Queen Amree: "Your dedication to Kelethin has been admirable. Go now and receive your reward from Lady Katri. Good luck to you always, [Player Character]. May Tunare bless you."
  • Player Character: "Thank you!"

I've reported to Queen Amree of the Fae. And now, I must speak with Lady Katri Eloranta near the Old Kelethin Acorn Lift.

  • Lady Katri Eloranta: "What's the latest news about the Grender?"
  • Player Character: "I received permission from Queen Amree herself to slay the Grender."
  • Lady Katri Eloranta: "Then the creatures of Greater Faydark will be safe again! That is excellent news, [Player Character]."
  • Player Character: "I'm glad I could help."
  • Lady Katri Eloranta: "I'm very glad you could help, [Player Character]. You've more than proven that Outsiders aren't all bad. That may seem like a small thing, but it means a lot to me and to the Queen."
  • Player Character: "So what should I do now? I still don't know everything about Kelethin or the fae."
  • Lady Katri Eloranta: "You're the sort of person who will continue to learn and grow for the rest of your life. If you'd liked to learn more about your own history, Queen Antonia Bayle allows you to journey to Qeynos and study with the mentors. You may feel rushed a bit, as you have just one lifetime in which to learn everything, but you'll manage. I have faith in you."
  • Player Character: "Thank you."
  • Lady Katri Eloranta: "You should speak with Innkeeper Twiggy in Kelethin about getting a room for yourself, if you haven't done so already."
  • Player Character: "I appreciate your help, Lady Katri."
  • Lady Katri Eloranta: "You'll also want to speak with Gibrien Marsden, the Assistant City Registrar. He will explain what must be done to register as a citizen of Kelethin. May Tunare bless you, [Player Character]!"
  • Player Character: "Farewell!"

I've spoken with Lady Katri. I spoke with Queen Amree of the Fae and with Lady Katri Eloranta.

I defeated the Grender in its own lair. Hopefully, this helps prove that Outsiders should not automatically be blamed for everything that goes wrong in Greater Faydark. Now I can speak with Gibrien Marsden at the Near Residential Aeria platform in Kelethin to learn about how to register as a citizen, then head to Innkeeper Twiggy in Kelethin to see about getting a room at the local inn.
