The Guardian of Eldonis is overconned.
It is possible for a single group of characters to take him out. A wise approach is to have the tank stand in front of him and pull him east a bit to allow the rest of the party to stand behind him. He has a forward facing arc AOE (heat, I believe) that can thus be avoided by all but the tank.
