Added the part about the creeping fortune. If you harvest it you will be able to pick up the experiment within 15 minutes without getting attacked by spiders.
You can pick Creeping Fortune as long as you want without restarting the quest, and it will skill up Gathering every pick from 0 to 315+ (315 was cap when I found this quest).
