Because this guy is rooted in place, if you get far away enough from him, you can deal as much damage as you want and he can't touch you. He only does melee damage, no spells. However, he can summon a minion ("Archfiend Izzoroth's cursed sacrament," level 40, no level mod) but the minion is easily killed. I'm a 49 necromancer who soloed him (albeit, it took me about 10 minutes). My tank pet died once, but after that I realized I should've been using my mage pet (who keeps her distance). I lifeburned Izz twice and each time only got him about 1/2 - 1 bar of health lower. The reason I tried killing him in the first place was because I was stuck in combat with him. I could either die (wasn't sure if that would boot me & then I'd be on lockout) or kill him. Pretty anti-climatic though, seeing as he doesn't drop anything and doesn't give regular xp (he was green to me) or AA xp. Only thing I got was a nice guild message: "Archfiend Izzoroght was slain by Jirae in a thunderous engagement!" --Meggaplex 08:15, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
- Appears this is no longer true. As of five minutes ago, he was quite definitely casting spells, notably Grim Coil and Draw Strength. While neither the latter nor his pet were a threat, Grim Coil was doing about 8% damage per tick for a level 48 assassin.
