Problems with the Barrier Staying Up[]
I just did this one with my ranger, and as soon as I finished the click dialog on the banner case, I stealthed and used my huge attack, Sniper Shot (4K to 7K damage) and one-shotted the Guardian. But the invisible barrier did NOT drop on the doorway. I had to go back through the banner case dialog again to spawn the Guardian a second time, then I fought him hand-to-hand near the doorway, which worked properly. --Sigrdrifa 15:46, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
Suggestions In Case the Barrier Does Not Drop:
- If the barrier does not drop after you kill The Guardian of Ank'Nief, make sure you do not have any extra keys in your inventory; if you do, trash them, and collect any within the room.
- You can also try to re-trigger the dialog by inspecting the casing again. Once he respawns, kill him again.
- If the barricade still does not drop, you will eventually run out of time and fail the quest. Zone out through the service entrance and follow the steps above to gain the ability to "say his name" before re-entering the service entrance.
- When you start fighting, but don't kill the guardian, the barrier is gone and you can leave the room).
- It takes some time before the barrier disappears, so be patient.

I *could* speak his name, but wanted a fight. :-) The barrier didn't drop, but the destroying the keys trick worked for me. Saw-lau (talk) 21:04, May 28, 2018 (UTC)
