It can be done in group. The one who opens the chest will automatically get the slightly glowing shard. Other group members have to right click on the chest and grab the shard.
Unable to merge the shards[]
I had mentored down to 70, ran thru the instance, got the second shard, examined it and... nothing. I unmentored, mentored down to 60, went back into my instance and still nothing. I attempted to pop my merc, but he didn't appear. I left and suddenly I had my merc! I went back inside and the merc suspended. When I came out, the merc was bugged. I restarted the game, resummoned my merc, went back inside with my faux group and still couldn't get the shards to combine.
I think at this point I'll just put the shards in the bank and if I ever find myself in need of a quest slot, I know which one to delete. -- Ejep520 (talk) 22:11, 26 November 2020 (UTC)
