Sebilis was the capital city of the former Iksar Empire. It was built by Venril Sathir, the first king of the Empire. Through a mix of undead and live soldiers, Venril of the Kunzar tribe conquered almost all of Kunark, absorbing the other Iksar Tribes into the empire. He enslaved the other native denizens of the continent, primarily the Giants and Frogloks, using them to transform Sebilis from a small village into a grand metropolis.

From this seat of power the Iksar Empire grew. Additional cities and fortifications were constructed far and wide: Torsis, Jinisk, Riliss, Karnor, Cabilis, Veksar, and many more. Even after Venril's son, Dominus Rile Sathir, violently supplanted him as emperor, the Empire continued to grow in military and economical might. However, across all of the Empire's many architectural wonders and spoils of war, nothing came close to the jewel of the jungle that was Sebilis.

It wasn't until the rule of the third emperor of the Iksar Empire, Atrebe Sathir, and later his son, Ganak Sathir, that the might of the Empire and that of Sebilis would be threatened. As the adversaries of the Empire were either exiled, absorbed, or slaughtered, soon the Iksar were left without an enemy to focus their military efforts. Intelligent and daring, Atrebe decided to challenge the dragons of the Ring of Scale. Initially the victories were decisive for the Empire, but the immortal dragons would not be so easily defeated. Under the wing of Jaled Dar, the Ring of Scale bolstered their numbers and set Kunark and the infrastructure of the Empire aflame. One-by-one the cities and towns of the Iksar would crumble and burn. After decades of fighting, the protective layers of Sebilis fell away, exposing the capital to attack. The fifth and final emperor of the Iksar, Dominus Chottal Sathir, great-great grandson of Venril, attempted to mount a final defense of the city, but the dragons proved too powerful. Sebilis was laid waste, and with her destruction, the Empire was finally snuffed out. The noble vestiges of the Empire would create the Emerald Circle, formed out of representatives from the five iksar tribes, in an effort to maintain order across what remained of Sebisilian Kunark. However, after suffering such an overwhelming defeat, and without a single leader, the Iksar would fracture back into tribalism.

Sebilis now stands as a memory of the once glorious Iksar Nation. Yet in the wake of the Age of Cataclysms, something within Sebilis seems to be stirring. Iksar calling themselves Sathirians can be seen in great numbers entering the city and patrolling the outlying jungle. Could this be the start of a new future for the Iksar? Is this the rise of Kunark?
