Nights of the Dead 2008 added several NPCs to North Qeynos, West Freeport, Kelethin, Neriak and Gorowyn. They were all references to characters in scary movies.

- Ardath Bay - Ardeth Bay of "The Mummy" (the 1999 version) - this was also used as an alias by Boris Karloff's Mummy, which is how it got into the 1999 Mummy
- Bruise Hotep - Bruce Campbell starred in "Bubba Ho-tep" (the only actor mentioned)
- Carol N'Freeling - Carol Anne Freeling of "Poltergeist"
- Chuck Le'Ray - Charles Lee Ray, Chucky of "Child's Play"
