To receive this quest, you must be:

• At least tradeskill level 30
• Preceded by 'Good Ore Bad?' in Butcherblock

Notes

• To finish the entire quest line you need:
  • 6 glimmering candle
  • 3 glimmering coal
  • 9 glimmering sandpaper
  • 4 feyiron cluster
  • 1 rough opaline
  • 3 severed briarwood
  • 3 tussah root
  • 1 velium cluster

• Sandpaper, coal and candles are all sold locally.
  • The quest giver has the candles
  • The others are sold by Finbert's Salesbot at ( -584, 174, 963 ) Copy/waypoint -584, 174, 963.

• If you lack some of these supplies and want to buy them from the market, there is a broker in the inn ( -641, 175, 1048 ) Copy/waypoint -641, 175, 1048.
• After completion of the Beaks Away! quest which is the final quest for this questline in the Steamfont Mountains then Karalyn Cinderton will sell the Advanced 30-39 Tradeskill books (NO-TRADE versions) - she does at the end before you go to Lavastorm. Only the 8 skills - not the Provisioner ones which the tradeskill sellers in the main cities sell (because the Provisioner books were added after this zone was designed). She continues to offer them thereafter so you can go back for them at any time.

• 3 glimmering coal

Steps

1. Scribe the Experimental Notes on Clockwork Zapping recipe you are given and craft a Clockwork Zapper. (Note: There's a Work Bench at ( -518, 175, 1038 ) Copy/waypoint -518, 175, 1038
2. Use the Clockwork Zapper on a haywire clockwork spider along the path to Klak'Anon (to find this mob, take a travel disc ride to Klak'Anon ( -262, 89, 1404 ) Copy/waypoint -261.68, 89.42, 1404), then after the spider looks dead right-click and collect the battery.
   • Note: Be sure you do not have an auto-attack item or ability, such as a caster ranged item. Using the zapper will activate it if you do. Char Window -> options -> "Forced melee" or "automatic" is ok
3. Return to Karalyn Cinderton.
