Description[]
"Charles Arker is here from Freeport to make a name for himself before his marriage. It seems part of his name-making included falling in love with one of the Tunarian spies -- a most unsuitable and distasteful situation. Charles cannot bring himself to kill the Tunarian and asked me to find her and take care of things for him. Her name is Laena; she could be anywhere on the island so I will need to hunt carefully." -- Everquest II Journal

- Enter the Wilderwood ( 181, 5, 109 ) to search it by going up the stairs near Charles and into the trees a short way.
- Approach the Rocky Dig ( 114, 1, 104 ) south-east of where you entered the woods.
- Enter Cliffdiver Canyon ( 217, -3, 141 ) to search it.
- Continue through Cliffdiver Canyon to Wilderbear Vale where the ghost of Laena ( 267, 1, -52 ) will spawn and attack you.

Journal Steps and Dialogue[]
- Charles Arker "The Tunarian note is still incomplete, but this may be enough to advance our prestige, [Player Character]. You know, you're very good at this kind of thing. Tell me, would you be interested in helping me on a more personal level?"
- Player Character: "In what way?"
- Charles Arker: "As you know, I came here to make more of a name for myself. When I return home, my marriage will take place. I've been betrothed since birth to a lady from a good family. The match will elevate my family's status. Unfortunately, my betrothed has the face of a horse."
- Player Character: "That's pretty unfortunate."
- Charles Arker: "Also, unfortunately, I've found myself unnaturally attracted to one of those Tunarian spies. A wood elf...she's graceful, beautiful and deadly. Nothing must come of this fancy of mine. I cannot let my reputation be sullied by even the merest hint of a romance with one of their kind."
- Player Character: "What do you need me to do?"
- Charles Arker: "Find Laena. Kill her. I'd do it myself, but I fear that seeing her again could weaken my resolve. She could be anywhere on the island. Once she's out of the way, I won't be tempted again and my family's honor will not be stained. For all I know, she was put here specifically to entice men like me to falter."
- Player Character: "I'll take care of her."
- Charles Arker: "There's no time like the present."
- Player Character: "Easy for you to say."
I must find Laena, the Tunarian spy that has captivated Charles Arker. She could be in any of these locations; I'll have to search carefully. Search the Wilderwood, just north of the Seaside Glade.
Searched the Wilderwood. Search the Rocky Dig to the east inside the Wilderwood.
Searched the Rocky Dig. Search Cliffdiver Canyon to the west of the Seaside Glade.
Searched Cliffdiver Canyon. Search Wilderbear Vale, at the northern end of Cliffdiver Canyon.
I've located the ghost of Laena. There she is! I must get rid of Laena's ghost so that Charles is not tempted any longer. The ghost of Laena must be eliminated!
I've gotten rid of Laena. For good. Now that the Tunarian is gone, I should let Charles know that he can wed his Freeport lady in peace. Charles will be grateful to learn that Laena is out of his life forever.
- Charles Arker: "Is she...dead?"
- Player Character: "Yes. Do you want details?"
- Charles Arker: "I don't care for details. I...just want to make sure she died with honor."
- Player Character: "To tell the truth, I don't know how she died. she was dead when I found her."
- Charles Arker: "I see. I hadn't expected that. The main thing is that Laena will no longer...bother me. I wonder, though...who could've killed her? We may never know...and I can marry my betrothed in peace. Thank you, [Player Character]."
- Player Character: "You're welcome."
I spoke with Charles Arker.
When I located the wood elf that captivated Charles Arker's imagination, she was already dead but in ghostly form. To make sure that Laena doesn't come back to haunt him, I made sure she will never rise again. Arker seemed surprised, perhaps even dismayed, but Laena's death will only make him stronger.
