I know this might seem like a minor thing to ask about but I wanted to make sure this won't cause any friction if I start doing disambig pages for articles like the the one listed below.

For the quest Allies? you must speak to a NPC Kromok the Acolyte who is always up. After talking to the Kromok, he changes into a monster that is now killable.

For something like this example, would it make sense to make a disambig page, one for the NPC and one for the monster, or just make a note on the monster page that there is a npc version that is always up that changes into a monster only during the quest. Basically yes it makes sence for npc's that have more then 1 purpose.
Gulthga for example is a Quest NPC for a few quests and is killable at the end at the same location
Gortov for example is a Quest NPC for 2 or 3 quests and is killable at the end at a different location
Kromok the Acolyte is allways there, but just be killed for the quests Allies? and Path of War. So the Npc article would just be there to say he is an Quest npc that can be hailed to turn into the Named monster.
Makes sence and no problem by me at least if we split them into two .. but not really needed.
I would do it for npcs like Gulthga or for like Gortov

You should be fine to do so if need be, but one thing to consider (along the lines of Chilli's comments) is which is the "primary" thing players will see? Is it a NPC 99% of the time that you just kill at the end? If so, it may make sense to have the NPC have the base named page and use a {{dab}} to link to the (Named) version of the monster. Or, vice versa if it's an attackable mob most of the time and only an NPC in a rare case. That way you still get both pages but if something will be what players are lookign for the bulk of the time they don't have to go through the intermediate step of a disambig page. --lordebon (talk) 02:48, December 31, 2013 (UTC)

Ok, I'll keep that in mind. When I make a disambig page I use the "What Links Here" button to figure out what is linked to the page and redirect the link to the appropriate version of the article before making the disambig page. So people don't have to worry about clicking a link ending up in the wrong article.

One thing I notice on the Gulthga article is it is listed as Gulthga (Mob) for the Named Monster article. I think it would be better if we used the same format for disambig pages.
I've been using a format like "Article Title (Named)" or Gulthga (Named) for something like the Gulthga article.

I've been trying to make the disambig pages as uniform as I can but I'd like to clarify what you think would be the cleanest way to make these page.

I've been doing things like this. But if there is another way you'd prefer, like listing everything as Mob I could do it that way. Although it is my opinion that using (Named) and (Monster) for disambig pages is a clearer way of setting article titles.

  • NPC's and Monsters
  • Article Title (NPC) -- if there is only one version of the npc or alternatively
  • Article Title (Zone) -- if the NPC is in multiple zones
  • Article Title (Monster) -- if it is a non-named monster
  • Article Title (Named) -- if it is a named monster
  • Items
  • Article Title (Armor) -- If it's a piece of armor equipment
  • Article Title (Dagger) -- If it's a weapon the specific type of weapon
  • Article Title (Item) -- for an item
  • Article Title (Book) -- for a book
  • Article Title (House Item) -- For house books
  • Article Title (Quest Starter) -- If it's a quest starting item

Also noticed that a lot of the beta tags are still on there. Might be a good thing to run a bot on ;p Jado818 (talk) 16:53, January 2, 2014 (UTC)

Hi Jado! It was my understanding that they weren't going to run a bot on the ToV expansion items. They were requesting manual verification and updates. I'm somewhat behind right now because I went to ToV and was soundly whipped. I need to get better gear for my exploration of that area.
Do you know of any way to dump the equipment into a spreadsheet so I can start looking for gear that will give me the best crit chance? I'm only at about 275 on crit chance and (as I understand it) I'll need to have that up to around 500 to operate there. Take care! User:Paceyourself (Talk) 17:58, January 2, 2014 (UTC)
I don't know how to do that at the moment. I haven't read much about web-based stuff yet. I know it's possible though. The EQMac wiki had a set up like that before it was taken down. Not entirely sure how it worked though but it automatically tagged the stats on every piece of equipment then created a sortable table when you looked at that stat. I know it wasn't a static table, it was only created when a person actually looked at that particular stat's table. Like one of the Special pages functions (alt shift q to check them). Not sure why I can't link directly to the list.
That's well beyond my skill set at the moment but who knows, maybe some day I could figure it out ;p Jado818 (talk) 18:08, January 2, 2014 (UTC)
I've been doing a lot of equipment articles recently and realized that the stats are being tracked. I just don't know if there's a way to build a table that could pull various stats by slot by class and also include the amounts. That would be very helpful to say... a necro that needs the most crit chance he can get and what equipment will get him there!
Maybe Chilli, Lordebon, Jeff or someone else knows how to do that or could point us in the right direction? User:Paceyourself (Talk) 21:52, January 2, 2014 (UTC)
