Notes
You can repeat the mission once per day. You may also delete the quest and wait approximately 10 minutes to be offered a new one.
+
ATTENTION: As of the last update (2020-03-09) some of the quest-creatures do not have the "quest-icon" in its name visible. By now bear-creatures without ican can be captured, but mystical-creatures not.
  +
* You can only complete the mission once per day. If you have already completed the mission and need to wait until the next day, the Steward will reply with "I'll have more tasks for you tomorrow, <your name>."
  +
* You can delete the quest, then re-hail the Steward to receive a new random quest.
  +
*"Grey" creatures can give updates, too. To be in fight you can e.g. fear or root the mob (without damage...so have an eye on your trigger effects). For more posibilities see the Hint section below!

The quest will ask you to capture 11 monsters/creatures/etc., from one of the following categories below, in an empty familiar cage that you will receive from the Steward. Below are some suggestions for monsters that should update the quest (this is not a complete list).

The quest will ask you to capture 11 monsters from a random category, from one of the following categories. In brackets are some suggestions for monsters that should update the quest, but these are not meant to be an exhaustive list.
+
* Amphibians:
*Capture several amphibians in an empty familiar cage. (Turtles and frogs, such as far east island turtles in lower Moors, muck toads in The Peat Bog or sand tortoises in Outpost of the Overlord.)
+
** Turtles (bestiary) and frogs (bestiary).
*Capture several aquatic creatures in an empty familiar cage. (Crocodiles or crabs such as crabs in The Thundering Steppes.)
+
** Examples include muck toads in the Peat Bog, small sand tortoises in Outpost of the Overlord and korascian mudhoppers in Vegarlson, the Earthen Badlands.
*Capture several bats in an empty familiar cage. (Some may be found in Darklight Wood.)
+
* Aquatic creatures:
*Capture several bears in an empty familiar cage. (Briarpaws in Enchanted Lands, kodiaks in Antonica, glacier bears in Everfrost, bears in Outpost of the Overlord or bears in Oakmyst Forest should update the quest.)
+
**Crocodiles (bestiary) and crabs (bestiary).
*Capture several birds in an empty familiar cage. (Hawks, vulrich, falcons and ducks. Some birds may be found in Antonica, near the oracle tower.)
+
** Examples include coastal crabs in Queen's Colony , A Nerius crab on the beach in Nektulos Forest, brine sifters in Sunken City and an adamantine karkata in Tranquil Sea.
*Capture several boars in an empty familiar cage. (Pigs and boars will, but boarfiends will not update the quest. There are very few spawn locations for boars, so you may want to consider deleting the quest and requesting a new one in ten minutes. Alternatively, you can go to Nektropos Castle for swines (not the Swine Lord), and zone out and back in until you have 11.)
+
** Note: while fish and octopus are classified as Aquatic in some listings (such as EQ2 Zam's Bestiary), they will not update the quest. Crocodiles don't belong here: they belong in Reptiles, but what can you do?
*Capture several bovids in an empty familiar cage. (Cows, deers, sheep and camels. Deers may be found in Commonlands or Enchanted Lands.)
+
* Bats:
*Capture several canines in an empty familiar cage. (Wolves and hyenas, such as timber wolves in Antonica.)
+
** Creatures from the bat category (bestiary).
*Capture several cats in an empty familiar cage. (Lions, tigers, panthers, leopards and sabertooths, such as the Stelecats in POM or lions in Commonlands.)
+
**NOTE: Echobreath in Darklight Wood will not update the quest; named creatures are sometimes too powerful to be trapped in the cage.
*Capture several dire creatures in an empty familiar cage. (Raptors, dire bears, dire wolves, sasquatch or yeti, such as black wolves in Commonlands.)
+
** Examples include
*Capture several drakes in an empty familiar cage. (Genuine, non Drakota drakes, such as the ones found in Greater Faydark. The quest is not doable on the Fallen Gate server before Echoes of Faydwer.)
+
***the Caves: stygian screechers, and shale bats (Shale bats in the Caves work if you can make them live long enough.)
*Capture several enchanted creatures in an empty familiar cage. (Hellhounds, flying snakes and koalrat, such as blightrats in Rivervale, pond gliders at Crater Pond in Antonica or lashers in Enchanted Lands.)
+
***The Enchanted Lands: a void shrieker -104
*Capture several insects in an empty familiar cage. (Spiders, beetles, crawlers, wasps and scorpions, such as bixies on the Bixie Island in Tenebrous Tangle, bees in Outpost of the Overlord or beetles in Forest Ruins, Darklight Wood or Commonlands.)
+
***Nektulos Forest: a blood shriller 378 0 -552
*Capture several mystical creatures in an empty familiar cage. (Manticores, cockatrice, displacer beasts, rust beasts, owlbears, such as rust monsters on the Butcherblock Mountains beach or duststingers in Commonlands.)
+
* Bears:
*Capture several reptiles in an empty familiar cage. (Chokidai or lizards, such as lizards or monitors in The Peat Bog, Commonlands or Antonica.)
+
** Creatures from the bear category (bestiary).
*Capture several rodents in an empty familiar cage. (Rats, armadillos, beavers or badgers, which may be found in Thieves Way, in Antonica near the Crater Pond, in Commonlands or The Peat Bog.)
+
** Examples include

An alternative is to engage them from range - most procs are limited range, so if the mob is too far away, they won't be hit. Most of the spells mentioned have a decent range, and the cage spell may cast well before it loses its red shading.

NotesEdit

ATTENTION: As of the last update (2020-03-09) some of the quest-creatures do not have the "quest-icon" in its name visible. By now bear-creatures without ican can be captured, but mystical-creatures not.

 • You can only complete the mission once per day. If you have already completed the mission and need to wait until the next day, the Steward will reply with "I'll have more tasks for you tomorrow, <your name>."
 • You can delete the quest, then re-hail the Steward to receive a new random quest.
 • "Grey" creatures can give updates, too. To be in fight you can e.g. fear or root the mob (without damage...so have an eye on your trigger effects). For more posibilities see the Hint section below!

StepsEdit

The quest will ask you to capture 11 monsters/creatures/etc., from one of the following categories below, in an empty familiar cage that you will receive from the Steward. Below are some suggestions for monsters that should update the quest (this is not a complete list).

Hints and tipsEdit

If you are Max Level, (110 currently) You can mentor to 10-20 and still have over a million HP. even lvl 80's wont be able to hurt you. just walk up and let them aggro and snag them.

Most of the familiars (fabled and ethereal) have some damage proc, so it's better to unsummon your familiar (if you have any) and remove all damage proc items from your gear before you start caging creatures. Fighter classes that have Planar Mastery: Fighter should unequip it to take the damage effect off of most taunts and detaunts.

An alternative is to engage them from range - most procs are limited range, so if the mob is too far away, they won't be hit. Most of the spells mentioned have a decent range, and the cage spell may cast well before it loses its red shading.

If you unsummon your familiar, don't forget to re-summon before Examining the new one, or you won't get the option to give XP to your current familiar.
