Cloaks

Cloaks become available to players in the Echoes of Faydwer expansion.

There are at multiple kinds of cloaks:

crafter made cloaks
guild cloaks
deity or quest completion cloaks
Legends of Norrath loot card reward

Guild cloaks are not actually their own item. In order to wear a guild cloak, you pretty much need a cloak from another source already. When you do, you can choose to wear your guild heraldry on your cloak in place of its normal design. Go to your Persona window under Options-->Display Heraldry on Cloak. There is also a button to "hide cloak" so you can wear one and not have everyone see your horrible taste in clothing. The shape of the cloak and general way it blows in the wind is based on the cloak design underneath. It's not a guild thing. You can have a low Tier common cloak and still get your guild heraldry on it. Quests, especially the deity quests may grant a cloak with special abilties to those who complete them. The appearance of some quest cloaks, such as the Cloak of Flames, may override the guild selected design.

Player Crafted Cloaks

Crafter cloaks are an easy way to get your cloak once you get into EoF. Tailors can make them from the usual tailor components - roots and pelts. If you have a rare root, you can get a rare cloak. It's possible that cloaks may drop in chests, but I can't say for sure.

Recipes for the Handcrafted cloaks are in a special series of books called "Traveler's Guide of the Tailor". they can be purchased at almost every tailor npc in the cities major zones (usually if they have all the tiers of armor, they sell the books).

Recipes for Mastercrafted cloaks are found in the "Enigma of the Tailor" series, along with the Tailor crafted adornments.

Guild Heraldry

Background color of the cloak is the main choice a guild has when designing a cloak.

eq2gallery.com has a very nice virtual cloak designer that accurately emulates the in-game cloak merchant.

To change any part of the heraldry, visit:

Emblem

At level 15 guilds can choose an Emblem (seen right) at the cost of 5p This is a picture that appears on your guild cloak, on your back. Emblems consist of over three dozen symbols. A guild may choose the color of its Emblem. Emblems include the following:

Edge

At level 30, a guild can choose to change the Edge design of its cloak at the cost of 20p. The edge design is a repeating pattern that goes around the sides and bottom of your cloak. There are about a dozen edge designs like: thick lines, thin lines, dots, squiggles, etc. Again, the guild may choose its Edge color. There are 10 Edge designs including the following:

zigzag
braid
celtic1
celtic2
celtic3
little stars
vine

Pattern

Level 60 guilds may change their heraldry Pattern at the cost of 50p. Some are similar to classic heraldry, some are quite different. A guild may choose the color of its Pattern. The following names have been suggested for the patterns - no official names have been given:

quarterly
diamond
inverted chevron
per pale
per bend sinister
half per bend sinister
complex web
simple web
embroidery pattern

Cost

Changes to the cloak cost money to the guildmember who enacts the heraldry change. Changes are made by an NPC who stands near the guild registrar in your home city.
