It's standard convention in listing contents, indices and appendices to list items beginning with 'The' under the letter of the second word, e.g. the quest "The Book of Power" should be listed under B. Yeah, I know I sound just like your old English teacher but since there is so many quests beginning with 'The..' it would make for easier to find the quest you are looking for. - DrFod

I added this as an easy way to quickly get to the various timelines and quest lists, which I'm working on editing so they will have all the quests. I find it a lot easier to navigate with something like this than an alphabetical category listing, and to me, having the Quests link take me to an alphabetical list of over 7000 quests is useless. More useful is by zone (for those who just want to do quests) or by level (for those focusing more on progression). I know such things aren't usually on category pages, but there isnt a Quests page. Maybe everything front this page should be moved to one, and then the category can have a link from there and just be the giant listing. LeraResan 23:04, December 15, 2011 (UTC)

::I think the table and the links below serve different uses. Some people are interested in soloing from 1-90, and the Soloing Timeline is useful for them. Others want to raid, or craft, or everything from level 50-60, and there are pages for that. But then there are those who want to do as many quests as possible, and the links from the table show all the quests. I don't find an alphabetical listing of quests useful at all - I'm not going to look through 7000+ quests, or even 100, to find the one I want. What is useful are the timelines, since they show progression and which quests are in the same area, and things like that. But even with those, an alphabetical list of zones, I don't think, is useful. It's much easier to have them listed as they are in the table, with related zones together. Is there any reason it has to be a table, rather than a list of "zones with quests"? No, but I think a table - like the navboxes on the regular Wikipedia - looks better.

::To answer your other questions: the colours don't have any particular meaning. I originally wanted to do Qeynos in blue, Freeport in red, and everything else in colours that somehow related to the zone, but hadn't got to that yet. Then it got changed to the four or five colours it is now, with four lines in each. It doesn't matter to me what colours are used, but it needs something to keep it interesting-looking.

::Your other questions are essentially the same - how does the player know which is which? I think I answered that above, where I said that's not what the table is for. There are links below the table for such information (and maybe they should be moved above the table). The intent of the table is a list of all quest lists, so that someone who wants to go questing, and by clicking on every link in the table, will have a list of every quest in EQ2. There are other ways to get that information here, but it's not all in one place. I think it's useful to present the information multiple ways - by zone, by level, by solo/heroic/epic, etc. - because players play the game in different ways.
 +
::Finally, the reason for listing removed timelines is related - those quests are still in the journals of players who finished them, and for the player interested in quests and looking though the journal to see what's been done, those will be there. Those zones are still listed, and the player might come here to see if he finished all the quests or not.

So it's a just a list of all possibles quest lines? in that case i suggest we move the information to an own article since the list is meaned for ppl who wanna know if they did all quests like you said.
if a zone got removed you can't finish the quest there any more. if the timeline should still be listed then it needs to be flagged in a clear way that it got removed from game .. like GM choices at the class pages. In addtion atm only each timeling has the RFG flag but not each quest, something we should sort too.
:A list of all quests - actually, a list of lists of all quests - sorted by zone or topic to make it easier to navigate. I don't mind moving it to another page, with a link from the main Quests page - I put it where it is since there's not a non-category page about quests and it seemed like the best available place for it. I think the italics flag removed lines well enough - can strikethrough be used here? I agree that quests should be flagged RfG, although that's somewhat of a separate project. And I agree that the table isn't going to be the most useful for everyone, but no arrangement will be, so we should have multiple ways - some want by zone, some by level, some by solo/heroic/epic. There's probably a better way of listing all that than what it is now. I'm sure you've seen the navboxes at the bottom of the page on Wikipedia, and the table was meant to be something like that, although it's definitely way too long to show on every timeline page. Maybe it could be used as a navbox, collapsed by default - lots of articles that have long or multiple navboxes do that. Or if the table is its own page, with a Table of Quest Timelines or something linked from the main quests page, just like the other quest lists are. I tried to make it a certain way, but since the hex colours are only so many one can put up w/o going blind (since your colours are already coded on links/used links) it was difficult.

I tried to make Antonica one colour, then Freeport .. but it ended up being one heck of a mish mash of vibrant colours, with many unuseable (i.e. unreadable). It would be useful if there was a more advanced search. How could be make a search that would allow us to search by zone and level? -- anonymous user at 68.112.184.32

To a certain extent, you can. The naming conventions of the categories are pretty rigid. If you know the zone, start with Category:Zones and tunnel down from there. There are Tier categories for SOME types of information. You ca search Category:Quests by Tier, Category:Monsters by Tier and Category:Named Monsters by Tier. If you will tell me exactly what you are looking for I can probably give you a category that will help you find it. --Florence Sopher of Lucan D'Lere (talk/contribs) 17:47, 25 November 2006 (CET)

Access Quests[]

Could we put an access quest page up and link on the main page? - Xirx

Sure thing. Though many of the quests that were access quests during the Shattered Lands era of the game aren't required any more. --Kodia 19:58, 15 December 2006 (CET)

Alphabetical Order[]

It's standard convention in listing contents, indices and appendices to list items beginning with 'The' under the letter of the second word, e.g. the quest "The Book of Power" should be listed under B. Yeah, I know I sound just like your old English teacher but since there is so many quests beginning with 'The..' it would make for easier to find the quest you are looking for. - DrFod

The problem though is that the wiki software doesn't agree with that standard. We do the best we can. For now, it'll have to stay like it is. --Kodia 05:03, 9 March 2007 (CET)

Old page for storyline quests[]

Zone table[]

I'd also point out the Class category has something similar, which is a quick way of showing all 25 classes and their types, in a way the category doesn't. LeraResan 23:06, December 15, 2011 (UTC)

The reason why we have Categories is just to have Information that is similar in the same place, that's why all quests are listed in the Category Quests. (This helps us with our bots too).
In the most cases we try to hold the information directly on the category as low as possible, so the category is just listing the articles.
With "a quick way of showing all 25 classes and their types" do you maybe mean Choosing Your Class which is linked at the top of the category?
For example my quest hub for solo quest's Soloing Timeline and Zones By Level.
It's a kind of nice idea, but i have a some questions about it
 1. What is the meanings of the colors?
 2. How do i know if the timeline is solo, heroic, epic?
 3. How do i know if the timeline is a public zone or a instance?
 4. What are the levels of the timelines?
 5. is the information we have listed here not listed allready somewhere else?
