The Sul'Dal began as a sect of Elddar that worshipped Anashti Sul (God) in secret while living in Takish'Hiz. When Takish'Hiz began to crumble and the Elddar fled to Tethelin and Fayspire, Anashti Sul (God) told her followers to drink from the Ewer of Sul'Dae and be granted undying.
Some Sul'Dal remain in The Silent City and you interact with a few during the deity quest series, including Celistae d'Galdis.
There is some confusion between Sul'Dal and sand elves as both are found undead in The Silent City and The Living Tombs as are Ara'Dal and Rin'Dal which are thought to be social classes of either Elddar or Sul'Dal but that has not been confirmed.
