When talking to Captain Varlos before leaving Queen's Colony for the first time (only characters starting in Queen's Colony):
- Captain Varlos: "So, ye ready ta go ashore matey? I can take ye all the way to Qeynos or just as far as the Frostfang Sea.
- Player Character: "Who are you?"
- Captain Varlos: "I am Captain Draik Varlos, and this 'ere fine ship is the Far Journey. I can give ya' a ride outta' here when yer ready to leave the island."
- The player characters has a number of options:
- Player Character: "Yes. Take me to Qeynos."
- Player Character: "Yes. Take me to the Frostfang Sea."
- Player Character: "Yes. Take me to Kelethin."
- Captain Varlos: "Ya' best be sure ta explore the whole island afore ya leave! Norrath can be a dangerous place ya' know?
- Player Character: "I'm ready for the challenges ahead. Take me to [chosen city]."
- Captain Varlos: "Yar! That's what we be needing. Okay then, off to [chosen city]!"
- Player Character: "Thanks for the ride!"
- Captain Varlos: "Don't ya' mind, we get paid ta' do that."
- Player Character: "To [chosen city]!"
When talking to Varlos any other time:
- Captain Varlos: "No more free rides for the likes of ye!"
