What does this information mean?

Spawn[]

  • There are conflicting reports regarding the spawn. Some reports indicate that she will spawn every 36 Earth minutes (half a Norrathian day), others once a full Norrathian day (72 Earth minutes). However, other people have reported to have waited more than 72 minutes and still nothing spawned.
  • If you are trying to complete the related quest, Capturing Day and Night, you can farm A Gold Dragon scale from Keeper of Silence in The Poets Palace. This will offer a quest that will allow you to spawn Barakah in Maj'Dul. The scale is a rare drop, however it allows you a guaranteed spawn of Barakah.

Notes[]

  • The word "Barakah" is an Arabic term meaning spiritual wisdom and blessing transmitted from God (Allah).

Strategy[]

With a little less than 500K in hitpoints, and a long-range heat-based AOE ('Flame of the Sun' at long range), it would see that this dragon, one of two in Maj'Dul, is incredibly difficult to beat. She is not impossible to counter, however.

Members of the now defunct RaidWiki website have suggested that the healers of the raid that attacks Barakah should be divided into two groups with one inside the monster's AoE range and one just outside the AoE range but still within healing range of the first healer group.

Reports on websites such as the now defunct OGaming website and several private guild websites suggest that only a single group of healers is necessary and that a series of attacks can be well-timed to conincide with the end of each, which lasts for approximately 25 seconds. That is, groups of attackers can remain outside the AoE range, wait for the AoE to go off, run in to attack, and run back out of range before the next AoE occurs. This technique is known as Jousting.

Whichever method you choose to defeat this foe, keep in mind the following:

  • The NPC version of Barakah in Maj'Dul spawns at roughly 2pm Norrathian time and despawns again at approximatly 11am (at night, hence, the name of the main quest Capturing Day and Night).
  • Her main attacks are slashing-, divine-, and heat-based.
  • She is almost invulnerable against heat-based attacks, but can be damaged with cold, slashing, or piercing attacks.

The contested version of Barakah (gives AA) spawns on an island off the western coast in Pillars of Flame. There is a ramp on the northern edge of the island that leads up to a climbable wall. Barakah's aggro range extends to the top of the wall, so it is necessary to fight her below, preferably in the water so that line of sight is not obstucted. Position the main tank. Position all but the main tank group at the very edge of ranged combat art range or beyond. Have a monk (or other sacrificial character) climb the wall and pull Barakah down to the tank. Lock down aggro. Let the first AoE go off. (The closer you are, the more it will hurt.) Melee DPS may now engage. Ranged DPS and healers should stay at max range. Burn.
