These things have a very wide aggro radius. They wait inside the lava pits and will have to find a way out before they can attack you - if you find yourself in combat but nothing's attacking you, it's quite likely a magmatic destroyer.
These will despawn if you faill to kill them, either through getting killed in combat or running away. Respawn is ten minutes IRL time.
